Building on Success 2017

Goldratt Consulting is organizing a conference in Salt Lake City on September 7-8. The conference will be held jointly with the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget of the State of Utah. The list of speakers includes – Governor Herbert, Kristen Cox, Rami Goldratt, General Andy Busch, Charles Toups, David Garrison, Alex Knight, Gene Kim, Kevin Behr, Yoav Ziv and many more. Each one a pioneer in their own way. Finding a way to improve performance while preserving stability.

Kristen Cox will showcase the amazing work she is doing in transforming the State of Utah using TOC principles. Changing the way business is done in government. Affecting lives in social services, corrections, education. Changing the way policy is done to reach truly breakthrough solutions in education, taxation and land use & transportation. Expanding TOC to capital projects. Utah is now a leader in governance. People visit to learn the magic sauce.

Leaders from the private sector will share their journey. Charles Toups who has tenaciously been applying TOC thinking, simplifying it, expanding its application, rolling it out on a large scale. Boeing has saved hundreds of millions of dollars (greater than $700 million reported at the TOCICO 2016). Slowly the company is changing. Driven by the tireless efforts of a dedicated team of people who understand TOC and have the courage to go back to first principles every time to find simplicity – real inherent simplicity – to roll out to thousands.

The authors of The Phoenix Project, Kevin Behr and Gene Kim, will be there. They have taken TOC into IT. Breaking the silo between IT development and IT operations. The DevOps movement has taken off. The next step in the journey is breaking the silo between IT and Business improvement. IT is at the center of all organization improvement initiatives. Information availability, rules compliance and automation – tools to create and sustain a new culture with greater local empowerment and cohesiveness around company goals. This will be the theme of a strong IT track with Gene, Kevin, Yazdi Bagli, Yoav Ziv, Mark Landy, Steve Cuthbert and myself.

There will be presentations from David Garrison of Delta Airlines. David will share the journey Delta Airlines has been on for the last 10 years. Using TOC principles to improve Delta TechOps operations in Engine Maintenance, Base maintenance, Line Maintenance, Engineering and many other areas. He will share, not just the solutions implemented and results achieved, but also the change in belief and thinking. How people have gained the confidence to solve difficult problems, to be more collaborative and find opportunities to “open doors”.

Lisa Bauer from Delta IFS will share a powerful story of implementing TOC across the supply chain. It is a challenge to change a conflicted relationship with a supplier. Delta IFS is doing that using TOC. Improving catering performance and creating opportunities for innovation. This work is probably the most important new idea to emerge in TOC – enabling Supplier Collaboration. Using the TOC framework to create Win-Win contracts, using IT to create transparency and accountability and using TOC Flow principles to enforce the right rules, rules that subordinate the entire supply chain to the end goal – the right meal, at the right place, at the right time. All this while increasing options and flexibility for the flying public.

There are in depth presentations from Goldratt Consulting Experts on the latest developments in TOC – TOC for Innovation, Simplified Thinking Process, TOC for IT, TOC for Airline operations and MRO, TOC for Holistic Management, TOC for Personal Growth, TOC for Healthcare.
